-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
LICENSE NOTICE:
AutoMessage is being distributed under the FREEWARE concept.
Meaning that it does not need to be registered.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
System Requirements
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
WildCat BBS Software v 3.xx
BRUN45.EXE must be in your PATH!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
DISTRIBUTION:
AutoMessage may be distributed freely, as long as it is in its ORGINIAL
ZIP or ARJ state.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
SETUP:
To set up AutoMessage, all you have to do is UnZip the contents of this
file to an directory off of your BBS. Then to run the internal setup
program, type:
AUTOMES SETUP
At the DOS Command prompt. Answer the questions.. The following is the
deatiled description for each question asked:
PATH TO USERINFO.DAT (NO \ ) :
-------------------------------
This is obvious, it wants the path to your USERINFO.DAT file, Ex.
C:\WC30\WCWORK\NODEx
x = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc...
DO NOT INCLUDE THE ENDING \ (NO \) means not to put that trailing
back slash there.
SYSOPS FIRST NAME :
--------------------------------
Easy enough, your first name...
SYSOPS LAST NAME :
--------------------------------
Easy enough, your last name...
BBS NAME :
--------------------------------
Well, this is your BBS Name, you might want to put BBS at the end ex.
BBS NAME : The Enterprise TNG BBS
PATH TO DISPLAY FILES IS WHERE YOUR GOODBYE.SCR AND GOODBYE.BBS FILE IS LOCATED
AT....
PATH TO DISPLAY FILES (NO \ ):
--------------------------------
Ok, this is wanting the path to your display directory, anotherwards, where
you keep your GOODBYE.SCR, GOODBYE.BBS, your HELLOx.SCR, HELLOx.BBS, Etc.
Ex.
PATH TO DISPLAY FILES (NO \): C:\WC30\DISP
Again, NO TRAILING BACKSLASH...
* Be sure you have an GOODBYE.SCR << ANSI and a GOODBYE.BBS file, they
are required!!
COMPLETE PATH TO OUTPUT FILE :
--------------------------------
Ok, this is the OUTPUT file, it is written with WildCats! @ Codes, this file
is what contains the message that the user left, (in otherwards the AUTOMESSAGE)
For example, I use HELLO6.BBS on my system for this file, you may want to
make it an Bulletin, so it would be BULLx.BBS, you need to include the
trailing \HELLOx.BBS on this, below is an example...
COMPLETE PATH TO OUTPUT FILE : C:\WC30\DISP\HELLO6.BBS
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HELPFUL HINTS:
COMPLETE PATH means everything including the FileName!!
PATH means I just want to know where the file is, I know what it is called,
but don't put that trailing backslash..
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AFTER SETUP:
Once you have ran setup thats basically all you have to do, the program it
self will do everything else. If you want the user to LogOff using the
AutoMessage program from every menu, I'd suggest that you using WildCats!
DOS Hooks, for example, on my system I have it set up this away:
My MAIN1.BAT, is the AutoMessage Logoff program
My MSG1.BAT, is the AutoMessage Logoff program
My FILE1.BAT, is also my AutoMessage Logoff program.
Now, what I done, was I went into MakeWild, and changed the access to the
Normal 'G'oodbye to 1000 (SysOp Only), I also, changed the letter from G
to 0, I then went down to the Menu Hook #1, and changed the value that was
there to 'G' changed the access level to 1. I done this for all menus.
Except the SysOp Menu. Now, whenever you (meaning the SysOp or anyone that
is on Local, must use the 0 to Logoff) The reason for this is because this
program Drops DTR on the User (IT IS NOT WRITTEN IN THE ACTIVITY LOG AS A
DROP CARRIER!!) but, remember, the program CAN NOT Drop DTR on someone that
is not there. So, that is why you must still have the Normal Logoff for
yourself. You can still access the AutoMessage program by pressing 'G'
and you can change the AutoMessage, but instead of logging you off, it
gives control back to WildCat, so then you would press '0' to logoff then.
In this package I have included my batch files...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TO RUN AUTOMESSAGE:
The command line for AutoMessage is quite simple,
AUTOMES xxxxxxxx.CFG
xxxxxxxx = Config file name
or
AUTOMES xxxxxxxx.CFG / FD
the /FD means to run under an Fossil Driver...
or
AUTOMES SETUP
runs the SetUp Utility...
